On Saturday, January 18, 2014, the Cumberland County Long Term Recovery Group hosted the first Hurricane Sandy Survivor’s Support Group.
The Support Group met at the Fortescue Chapel, and enjoyed a few hours of food, fellowship, and discussion about Sandy recovery in Cumberland County. Representatives from the Long Term Recovery Group were on hand to listen to survivor’s stories, explain available assistance options, and hear about the challenges and obstacles still faced by Cumberland’s residents.
The event was a successful effort to foster connections between the Long Term Recovery Group, our recovery partners, and those residents of the county still struggling with unmet needs caused by Sandy.
Future meetings of the Support Group will take place on the first and third Saturday of each month from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the Fortescue Chapel.
Food is always free, and anyone involved with Sandy recovery in Cumberland County or the state of New Jersey is welcome.
